Great Expectations

Charles Dickens
p 544

Years ago this book was an assigned reading for my 9th grade AP English class...one that was made unbearable by having to take turns reading it aloud! The classic tale was rendered numbingly boring by the dull monotonous drone of disinterest! Fortunately, I was challenged to re-read it by Andi and Heather F. at Estella's Revenge for My Year of Dangerous Reading and I discovered that the story is actually very good and not as lengthy as I'd remembered. The language of the time is a detractor but there is much to appreciate about Great Expectations, from the eccentric characters to its twisting plot. It's worth giving a try.
